The Buddha was out walking with the Gods.

At some point he stopped and, pointing to the ground with his finger, said, “This is a good spot in which to build a sanctuary.

Indra, the king of the gods, plucked a blade of grass, stuck it in the ground, and said, “The sanctuary is built”.

The Buddha smiled.

On the Outer

We are situated in the Loch lomond and Trossachs National Park in a
stunning setting just 20 min walk from Loch Vennacher, a 30 min river
walk to town and a forest walk at the bottom of the drive. Oh! and a hill fort with stunning views 20 min to the top. Wheels cycle hire is next door – a perfect starting point to access many of the cycle trails in the area and if you would rather walk there are lots of walking trails. If water activities are your thing there is plenty of that too.

 The 2 acres of grounds are pretty much a blank canvas awaiting some ingenuity and creativity around their use.

On the Inner

A fab group space with a great view of Ben Ledi. Originally built 30 years ago to sleep 30, we will be making some changes to the  bedroom layout to include more single accommodation. From Autumn 2025 we hope to be fully operational accommodating a total of 20 people residentially either in groups or for those just wanting some time out in nature.

For now the catered-for group space is ready for non-residential workshop bookings.

Whilst we have 2 twin letting rooms at The Tryst there are also many other options for accommodation locally suiting different budgets. Some options are listed here. 

The two rooms currently available to rent are the “gallery” and “circle” rooms. Each is en-suite with a wee patio to the rear and has a kitchen sink, crockery, cutlery, microwave and access to the refreshment bar in the main foyer.

Community

We see The Tryst being run by the community for the community. We are currently setting up a social enterprise, in the way of a Community Interest Company, to hold and run the space. If you would be interested in supporting it please let us know in what capacity. We are starting from the ground up on this.

We are looking for folk interested in supporting the Homecare function and  two Retreat Cooks – if you know someone or might be interested yourself please do get in touch with Mark.
